Eulogy Events?

Have you ever wondered what your guests think when your event is all over? Understanding what your guests think and feel after your event is over is the key to creating a lasting, memorable, and breathtaking event that your guests will be talking about for years to come.

To explore this, I've adapted a David Brooks term, "Eulogy Virtues" which he uses in his book entitled, "The Road to Character." He defines eulogy virtues as things that people say about you after you die. He reminds us how we spend less time on the eulogy virtues, and put a lot of effort into emphasizing our accomplishments, which are the things we least would want to be remembered by.

This concept helped me to draw a parallel between Eulogy Virtues and Eulogy Events.

Think about it, what will people say about your event when it’s over? What will they be thinking about when they walk away? What will they be talking about 5 years from now about your event?

It would help if I define a Eulogy Event. What is a Eulogy Event?

It’s what your guests say about your event when is over.

How can you make sure that your event will live forever in the hearts and memories of your guest?

There are a lot of things that need to be considered to make your event pop. In this blog, I will bring up ways that are guaranteed to bring positive feedback from your guests and leave them speechless. Ok, let’s take a look:

The first tool is understanding the true meaning of luxury and mastering it.

What is luxury?

Luxury has been associated with lifestyle, delicacy, grandeur, sumptuosity, elegance, not comfort – but great comfort in different parts of the world.

I believe one way to ensure that your event remains memorable is to apply the true meaning of luxury which will help to develop that strong desire to create an event that is beautiful, that has meaning, and is a refined and sophisticated event.

The author of the book "Selling to the New Elite" does a wonderful job discussing luxury. He talks about the acquisition of luxury as owning and experiencing something exceptional, something created with a true sense of passion and artistry, something profound, something that can provide a truly sublime experience. Regardless of where you are from, luxury is translated the same. How can you translate that universal language of luxury into your event?

One of the ways it can be done is to have a vision and walk it through with your event planner. Your vision has to be clear and consistent with your theme. For instance, I was meeting with a couple, and I asked them what their vision was for their event. Their answer was that they wanted every guest to be closer than when they first arrived at the event, and they wanted their big day to be a reflection of love filled with music, which is their theme. They weren’t talking about music in the tangible sense. They were referring to the everlasting melody they wanted their guests to dance to during their wedding and afterwards. My question to them was: how can I help transcend that vision? What are some of the ways you’re thinking about creating and accomplishing that vision?

Your event planner is key to providing ideas and helping you create an event that brings your vision into reality that will last a lifetime. You should get updates throughout the planning process about the different facets of your event. You can have a high budget for your event, but having and applying a vision that will help your guests deliver a moving and memorable eulogy is what will last a life time.
