Sprinkles All Over..

During a recent business trip to Puerto Rico on our continuous quest to establishing new partnerships, I experienced the essence of what a five star hotel is in a totally different and unique way. My experience staying at the Ritz Carlton in San Juan and a tour of the Ritz Carlton in Dorado wasn’t only great, it was special.

I’ve experienced many five star hotels all over the world, but this time, the Ritz Carlton with its sprinkles of high customer service embellished my stay, enhanced it, and made it more appealing and exciting than ever before. Every second that I was there, I felt like it was my birthday.

Before I even arrived at the hotel, I got assigned to a guest relation’s team for the purpose of customizing my stay and making it unique and memorable.

When I pulled my rental car to the front door, I was instantly treated like a guest of honor where they offered to park my car and take my bags up to my room. Upon checking in at the front desk, the staff knew exactly who I was by name and why I was there. To my delight, I got a complimentary upgrade to a junior suite without even asking.

During my business meeting with one of Ritz Carlton’s managers, we were not only able to form a partnership, but a friendship as well. At the end of the presentation, she asked me what my plans were for the evening. I told her that I wanted to experience entertainment, Puerto Rican style. She recommended a popular restaurant and entertainment spot, a place where a live band was playing and where to go for the best Island food. It was electrifying; the air was filled with the “caliente” beat of the famous queen of salsa Celia Cruz. The next day, I found out that she had stopped by to let them know that I was going to come – talking about a random act of kindness with sprinkles that were totally unexpected.

The service at the Ritz Carlton Club level and everything that it includes was ingenious and creative. There was breakfast, light lunch, and beverages available throughout the entire day. I Indulged in the Chocolate and Cordials that usually takes place every evening.

I got hooked with the sweet and rich taste of the Puerto Rican coffee served at the club level. Since the staff is so attentive to detail, they noticed how much I like the coffee, and on my last day, they gave me a gift bag that had some coffee, a mug, and a nice card to take home with me. The concierge was knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and very eager to help. Because, I was having technical issues with my phone’s GPS, the concierge printed all my directions and highlighted each destination, arranging them in order of priority. From the generous gifts and handwritten cards that were left by the staff in the room to the BLT restaurant where the bread was to die for, I experienced 5 star customer service at it’s highest and sprinkles taken to a whole new level.

The next day, I decided to go to the beach and explore the entire hotel. The spectacular pool at the Ritz Carlton in San Juan is breath taking and it’s well guarded by the golden lions and the breathtaking view of the blue ocean. The attendant at the beach introduced himself to me and accompanied me to my chaise longue where he set up a nice oversized towel and made sure I got everything I needed to relax and soak up the sunshine. A bowl of fresh oranges, aloe, and sunscreen lotion were available for use if needed.

My experience at the Ritz Carlton, Dorado (tour with a noticeably proud ambassador), the beauty of the resort, a magical, serene place, was nothing short of paradise on earth. At their unique and one of a kind nature reserve, I felt at peace and directly connected with nature.

At their outdoor Positivo Sand Bar and restaurant which over looked the ocean at sunset, I enjoyed their deep fried red snapper seasoned with the Caribbean flavor which was not only tasty and delightful, but simply pleasurable as the world-renown chef, Anthony Bourdain, would have put it.

For those few days I spent whether visiting the Ritz Carlton in Dorado or staying at their resort in San Juan, I got sprinkled with exceptional royal treatment like a fairy with a wand.
